The joy of cooking – together
This is a self-service stay, where guests prepare their own food. Not out of duty, but out of pleasure. We believe there is health, connection, and quiet happiness in cooking together with the people you love.
That’s why both the indoor and outdoor kitchens are fully equipped for baking, grilling, simmering, stirring, and simply enjoying — in silence or together, by the fire or facing the sea.
Kitchen &
facilities
Indoor kitchen
Inside The Main House, you’ll find a bright, spacious kitchen with generous worktops and everything you need. Brew your morning coffee, set the table for many, or bake sourdough bread and cinnamon buns.
An Ankarsrum mixer stands ready for pizza dough, sweet rolls, or rustic loaves. Tableware from Iittala and Eva Trio adds a quiet elegance, while the large dining table invites both conversation and stillness.
Tip: You can pre-order fridge refills before you arrive at Skagenhaugen.
Choose a welcome package with sparkling drinks, mineral water, and snacks — or a fully stocked fridge ready for your stay.
Outdoor kitchen
The outdoor kitchen is an experience in itself. Fire up the wood-burning Alfa pizza oven for crisp, homemade pizzas, or choose between a Beefeater gas grill and a Weber charcoal grill – depending on taste, time, and weather.
The six-metre folding doors between the gathering room and the outdoor kitchen can open completely, letting indoors and outdoors blend into one.
If the ocean wind picks up, glass sliding doors let you cook sheltered yet still surrounded by nature.
Dining areas & atmospheres
Skagenhaugen offers many corners and viewpoints for enjoying a meal.
Sunlit terraces, sheltered nooks protected from the wind, and long tables with views of mountains and sea. The outdoor furniture, inspired by both French park gardens and Canadian lodges, will age beautifully over time. Just like the weathered wood of the houses.
Inside, you can dine with views in every direction, and light the fireplace as dinner is served.
