Where adventure meets stillness

Some places make you feel more alive. Skagenhaugen is one of them.
hikers paradise

Mountain trails in Vesterålen

Vesterålen is a hiker’s dream, and Skagenhaugen sits at the very heart of it.

From here, you’ll reach a handful of spectacular peaks and trails within a 20-minute drive. If you prefer a guide (who speaks English and French ), we can help arrange it – but for most, it’s as simple as lacing up your boots and setting off.

Whether you stay in the main house or the intimate seaside cabin, Skagenhaugen invites slow days, fresh air, and true presence.

Every direction opens to new horizons. You can sit by the fire with a cup of coffee and still feel the wind, hear the waves, and rest in the stillness.

Days that never end

The magic of the midnight sun

From May to July, the sun never sets. It’s hard to describe until you’ve felt it yourself; walking through the night in full daylight.

Have a late dinner outdoors, play a game of boules at midnight, or hike in a T-shirt while the world sleeps.

Skagenhaugen has blackout curtains, though many guests choose to leave them open.
the dancing light

Northern lights right outside your door

From late September to early April, the northern lights dance across the sky.

You don’t need a guided tour, the best place to watch them is right here.

in harmony with nature

Simply being

Not every experience requires effort. Sometimes, the most beautiful moments come from doing nothing at all.

Lower your shoulders. Feel the quiet. Share meals and small moments. Read a book. Watch the sea change color. Light a candle or the fireplace during winter and let the morning coffee come with views of mountains and open sea.
a few words from us
To us, Skagenhaugen is more than a place – it’s a dream realized. We wanted to create a space where nature and architecture exist in harmony, and where guests can find the same peace we seek here ourselves.

With a vast property, unique facilities, and nature right at your doorstep, your days can be filled with everything from ice bathing and yoga to pizza-making or birdwatching. Or nothing at all – which might be the best experience of them all.

Fishing with a captain

For those who want to head out to sea, few experiences compare to a day with fishing lines, sea spray, and the true spirit of Northern Norway. We’re happy to help you get in touch with local fishermen who can take you out on the ocean.

If you’d rather rent a boat for your own fishing trip — or simply enjoy a boat ride on the open sea — this can easily be arranged just five minutes away. Sturdy aluminum boats are available for rent, fully equipped with fishing gear, safety suits, and outerwear. You can clean your catch indoors at the pier — and we kindly ask that the fish remains stay there, not at beautiful Skagenhaugen!
